Overcoming Average Golf :: Play Better Golf
Only 20% of golfers in America have established a USGA golf handicap. Of this small group, only 16% have the ability to shoot 80 or better. This easily demonstrates that to break 80 truthfully and consistently, one needs to play golf as one of the top 5% of all golfers in the United States. To accomplish better golf, one truly has to become a player. The USGA handicap distributions clarify why golf magazines and golf equipment manufacturers stay in business to confuse the average golfers. The answer is simple: DOLLAR BILLS.
Playing Better Golf by Becoming a Player
With the exception of very few PGA touring professionals (like Bubba Watson), PGA professionals contract with a golf instructor to maintain their golf swing. As demonstrated by any slow-motion analysis of any player, certain fundamentals about club position relative to the spine angle at body rotation distinguish them from the weekend warrior. The reality, as described by Ben Hogan, is that the weekend warrior with some thought and intelligent practice could achieve more power and accuracy with proper training.

I've taught some of the greatest golfers a few of the polishing details that have helped them get as near to perfection as is possible. That has been comparatively easy because they have an aptitude for learning, sound basic ability, and fine physical qualifications.
The utmost demands on my own capabilities as an instructor have been made by those who are shooting the courses in three figures, discovering what could be their best games and teaching them to perform to the limit of their capacities.

Which Is It?
As illustrated in the comparison of quotes (Ben Hogan's at the top of this page and Tommy Armour's comments immediately above), different teaching philosophies will yield different results. The PGA focuses on Grip, Stance, Posture fundamentals because they classify the golfer at a certain level or capability. Ironically, Tommy Armour also said "You need to understand golf in its total complexity so you can teach it in its utter simplicitiy." Golf is a simple game, and improvement is possible, only if the teacher is capable of preparing a training program to share the secrets that make good golfers great.
I would not give a fig for the simplicity this side of complexity, but I would give my life for the simplicity on the other side of complexity.

Human Performance Theory
Common practices in teaching kinesthetic activities such as golf would suggest that an average person has much greater potential for improvement than a great golfer. This is the case if the teacher can help the learner progress in a natural and systematic fashion. The Golf Gurru has created such instruction. Each page of the eBook is valuable to read, re-read, and practice the techniques on the range. The information is a holistic approach to play better golf by improving your golf swing and relying upon the principles of physics related to golf.
